Interfaith Paths to Peace hosted a Pandemic Memorial Service on Sunday, March 14 at 3 p.m. EST over Zoom. A statement by the organization read:
“This second weekend of March, we mark the anniversary of nation-wide lockdown. Our hearts are heavy with the losses of 2020 and 2021 – our elders, respected teachers and sports icons, family and friends lost to Covid-19. And our hearts are weighted with the continuing losses due to racial and economic injustice, homicide, hunger, homelessness, mental illness and unemployment that have been exacerbated by the pandemic.
We gather to fan the flames of hope into a bonfire of transformative love. We gather to lend interfaith voices to this grave memorial while encouraging each other. We gather to remember all who have been lost, to honor our Essential Workers and First Responders, and to light a candle in our own homes.”
Thank you Dr. Babar for lending your voice to this important moment of reflection.
