The 16th Annual Interfaith Iftar Dinner took place at Second Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. Nearly 500 attendees were present to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan and our ability to come together across all faiths, creeds and colors to make our community and nation a better place.
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear was the keynote speaker, delivering a message of faith and good will despite the negativity present on the news and in areas of the United States. This year’s theme was “Holding Faith When Nothing Else Holds.”
This year, MAC awarded the Saint Francis of Assisi School Student Service Group and their teacher, Fred Whittaker, with a Community Service Award. For more than 20 years, the school community has woven compassion into its identity and curriculum. It was a very touching moment to see the students and teachers honored for their amazing work across Louisville and Kentucky.
Other speakers included Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg, former Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer who spoke about the late Jesse Jackson, Yvette Gentry of LDG Division, the Rev. Ronals Oliver of Norton Healthcare, and the Rev. Barrett Abernethy of Second Presbyterian Church. Daniyal Khan served as master of ceremonies, and Dr. Syed Khader did the call to evening prayer before attendees had dinner provided by Jarfi’s restaurant.
