MAC President Dr. Muhammad Babar is flying to Antakya, Turkey with his fellow UofL Health Physician and MAC volunteer Dr. Sajjad Jameel. They are heading to the earthquake stricken area to support the families devastated by this tragedy. The death toll in Turkey and Syria from the earthquakes has surpassed 50,000.
“A lot of mental health issues, PTSD,” Babar said. “The physician there told me that children are not talking much since then. There are people who have lost their loved ones, that is another aspect as we are planning to see and help them in a way, establishing a mobile psychiatry clinic.”
Muslim Americans for Compassion (MAC) volunteers will stay in the area for five days before returning home.
