Volunteers from Muslim Americans for Compassion and Doctors for Healthy Communities delivered lunches and $15 Kroger gift cards to TSA employees on January 20, 2019.
The partial government shutdown is in its fourth week with no end in sight. Thousands of employees are being furloughed or unpaid during this time. Millions of Americans who live paycheck to paycheck are being forced to forgo essential needs to provide for their families.
In a show of support for Transportation Security Administration (TSA) workers who are called to work without pay during the government shutdown, volunteers from Muslim Americans for Compassion (MAC) and Doctors for Healthy Communities (DHC) delivered lunches and Kroger grocery store gift cards to TSA employees at Louisville Muhammad Ali international Airport and Bowman Field airport. On a cold January 20, 2019 – following a moderate snowfall the previous day – MAC and DHC volunteers delivered lunches and gift cards to 126 TSA employees at Ali International and 60 TSA employees at Bowman.
“MAC” wholeheartedly supports our brothers and sisters at the TSA and other local federal agencies in their time of need,” said MAC president Muhammad Babar. “Our initiative is to increase awareness and try to utilize our resources efficiently to achieve what we believe is the most positive effect.”
