It was a great week for the legacy of legendary boxer and activist Muhammad Ali. On June 3rd, Interfaith Paths to Peace hosted a memorial service and candlelight vigil at the Muhammad Ali Center. MAC President Dr. Muhammad Babar spoke at the event, ““It has been three years since our beloved Muhammad Ali left this earth in body. But the spirit of this good man – one of God’s true gifts to humanity – remains very much alive today.” The service was a great reminder of Ali’s ideals of respect and peace.
Later the same week, the Louisville International Airport was officially renamed as the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport. “We want them to know we’re the home of the champ,” said Mayor Greg Fischer, “And the champ stood for being the greatest at whatever he did, whether it was inside the boxing ring or helping people with their humanitarian causes.”
