Muslim Americans for Compassion (MAC) continued their outreach to help tornado victims in western Kentucky throughout the month of February, bringing much needed supplies to several towns throughout the region. February 23rd’s delivery included new pillows, blankets, coats, hats, warm clothes and cookware.
This builds on a previous delivery from February 2nd which included blankets, pillows, hygiene products, pots and pans, skillets, coffee makers, storage containers, winter clothes, warm coats, kitchenware, towels and various other items.
According to recent updates by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) more than 280,000 cubic yards of debris have been removed from the area and recovery efforts are well underway. The U.S. Small Business Administration approved more than $49 million in federal aid for homeowners and renters impacted by the tornadoes.
Residents in Caldwell, Graves, Hopkins, Marshall, Muhlenberg and Warren counties may apply for temporary housing and FEMA assistance at www.disasterassistance.gov or over the phone at 800-621-3362.
